Our Services for Individuals

Career Choice
Working with individuals in the process of career choice, transition or review.

People may feel they have potential that is not being used in their present work, or are experiencing uncertainty, dissatisfaction, lack of direction or a sense of involvement, despite considerable information about career alternatives.

Our individual clients include:

  • Secondary school-age children and young adults,
  • University students
  • Graduates
  • People in mid-life or mid – career considering where to go next,
  • Adults in transition following redundancy
  • Women returning to work after a career break
  • Those contemplating retirement.

The Consultation Process
Through a programme of meetings with one of our consultants, we will help you identify the nature of the dilemma that brought you to us, the meaning it has in your life, and work through effective scenarios for meeting that challenge head-on.

In depth discussions are TCEC's core way of working in all cases. When appropriate, arrangements can be made for access to a careers library and use of one or more of the occupational/career services that would be most appropriate to your specific needs.

How to apply
Before coming to the first consultation you will be asked to write to us in your own way about your current career or educational concerns.
Your letter is helpful to us in understanding how you see your present situation and the choices and decisions that are facing you. It is important to give details of your family and educational background, your particular interests and activities, and your experience of work to date. This exercise helps you to begin the process of self-appraisal, and also helps us to think ahead about what areas it might be useful to focus on.

If for whatever reason however, you find it is difficult for you to write please let us know and someone will call you back. You can phone at 0207 424 9401 and speak to our client coordinator or leave a meassge at the 24 hour answering service.
